Maldonado Bros. Window Tinting

Who We Are

A Family Tradition Since 1966

Our family and friends celebrating dad in John's backyard in Temecula, California.

From the Vault to the Vision

Our family has been in the window tinting business for three generations ever since our father J.O. Maldonado got started in 1964. In those days, prior to modern day window film, tint was applied in liquid form using a flow-coating machine. Then in 1966, the same year that 3M introduced window film to the world, “J.O.” established Acorn Glass Tinting. Today the tradition continues and although there are variations in brand identity, the Maldonado name remains the same.

"J.O." Maldonado

Throughout the years dad would proudly proclaim, "I rarely advertised. Our business was generated through referrals based on years of customer satisfaction." This photo shows his expression when making a point.

A lot has changed since those early days though. The window tinting industry has grown and the competition has grown with it. But what hasn't changed, are the core values our father passed down to us. And that is the

Maldonado Bros. tradition. - E.M.

Here is a reimagined 1960s TV Commercial featuring dad's first business location - located at 1123 W. Century Blvd. in Los Angeles, California.

Here’s  a short promo video detailing some of our services with a few 2nd and 3rd generation  Maldonado tinters.

    The Original "Ace Tinter"

In the mid-1960s, cousin Ed Galarza (right) started working with his uncles Joe, Frank, and Hedson Maldonado. They taught him how to tear down, clean, and rebuild tint machines before showing him how to “flow-coat” windows. He began by tinting sheets of glass, which were later cut into smaller samples.

On Ed’s first installation in the field, Uncle Joe, in full Mr. Miyagi and The Art of War mode, said, “Today, I am your helper. I know nothing about tinting windows, so tell me what to do.”

Sixteen-year-old Ed, already quick with a wisecrack, replied, “Well, you can start by getting me a cup of coffee!”

Ed has shared stories like this for years, but the best part is his spot-on impressions of Dad and our uncles. - E.M.

We reflect back with a clear view of the future.
