On this journey into the History of Window Tinting, I met my father halfway along the road of time.

In 1966 the Minnesota Mining and Manufacturing Company (also known as 3M Company) registered the first window film patent. But - before window film, there was… "flow-on", which is the process of "flow-coating" liquid tint onto a glass surface. During the early 1960s my father was introduced to liquid glass tinting by our uncle Fernando Gutierrez. These early window tinters like my dad and uncle, were referred to as a "flow-man". In 1966, the very same year that 3M introduced window film to the world, dad established Acorn Glass Tinting Company. Shortly after my father passed away in 2018, I began working on a documentary about the History of Window Tinting. This project is a tribute to my father and to the early pioneers of the window tinting industry. - E.M.
